Separation vs togetherness and functionality. 'Separation vs togetherness' refers to dividing the space between the living room and the cats' living quarters. 'Functionality': we established a cat area underneath staircase. The area was restored, to invite open air and natural sunlight.

Now theirs' cats have a multi-function area of their own with a modern glass enclosure full of wooden perches and the "entrance" just beside the tv wall. The staircase now giving the family a view of their pets.
